SPX OTC Ready Scan is a low cost diagnostic tool that visually and audibly indicates when a vehicle's readiness monitors have been reset. Designed as a post-repair diagnostic tool that informs the driver performing the drive cycle under normal driving conditions when the readiness monitors have been reset to a Ready position.

What is Readiness?
Readiness is a description of status of certain components and/or sub-systems within the framework of OBD II. The vehicle checks OBD II sub-systems either continuously or once per driving cycle, confirming the monitors are either Ready or Not Ready.
After emission related repairs have been performed, DTC's (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) have been cleared or the battery has been disconnected, the status of each monitor is reset to a Not Ready status. A drive cycle must be performed to reset the monitors to a Ready status.
What is Drive Cycle?
A drive cycle is a series of specific vehicle operating conditions that establish "enabling criteria" required for each emission related diagnostic monitor to reach a Ready status. A drive cycle resets the monitors to Ready. Drive cycles are generally vehicle specific and consider variables such as speed, engine temperature, and fuel level as enabling criteria.
The emission related monitors must be reset to pass a state OBD II test, also if the monitors are not reset, the repair facility risks return by an unhappy customer because the repair was not confirmed by the OBD II system; it did not reset the monitors to Ready.
