Kirker

The Kirker Pro-Flo 4:1 Urethane Clear is designed to give your project a high-quality finish and gloss. The urethane clearcoat is designed for professional refinishing shops where features like ease of use, dependability and fast dry times are critical. This 4:1 clearcoat mixes with KIRK-0065 (low temp), KIRK-0075 (med. temp) and KIRK-0085 (high temp) activators.

Why is it necessary to clearcoat your vehicle?

Clearcoat helps in maintaining durability and can provide the much-sought-after glossy finish for that ultimate buff look. Apart from aesthetic reasons, the clearcoat is vital to protect your vehicle from ultraviolet rays. Many people believe that the actual cause for paint fade is due to the sun’s rays. Clearcoat also helps in easily buffing the shallow surface defects on your automobiles without causing much harm to the paint.

How to apply clearcoat:

Clearcoat must be applied after the paint is down. Apply two coats and enable each coat to flash to hand-slick between coats. You can also utilize the wet-on-wet ‘limited flash’ application. This can be achieved by allowing a 2-5 minute flash between coats. Adjust the air pressure to HVLP 8 -10 psi and Conventional 50-60 psi.

Key Features of the Kirker Pro-Flo 4:1 Urethane Clear:

  • Excellent flow and leveling
  • Provides a deep gloss and sharp DOI without shrinkage or dieback
  • Buffed easily for several days after application
  • Works well for partial or complete refinish jobs in production shops

I used this clear on different cars and trucks for about a year. After about 6 months it all started. people started coming back and I had to repaint. I use ppg color and would put this clear over it. It did look good at first But as I said after 6 months it started to peel off the color or on the lighter colors it would turn yellow then start to peel. I even called the company and all they said they could do was send me more clear. Why would I want to spray more after the first 4 or 5 gallons I sprayed peeled off. I almost went broke respraying peoples cars. Then I used ppg DC3000 and havent had a come back since. This stuff is junk! I have 27 years experince in the body shop business so I know its not because I didnt know what I was doing. Tried the ec300 same results! just sprayed 1 gallon of that. Thank goodness because I had to repaint that one also.

I used this clear on a pair of plastic headlight capsules that had started to deteriorate and after removing the original layer of protective coating down to fresh plastic I sprayed the capsules with this EC100. They looked fantastic and after sanding with 2000 grit and buffing out they looked even better. After about 3 months I noticed they looked like they were a little discolored. After 6 months you can see a noticible yellowing and getting worse as each month goes by. Yes some people will say that its the plastic yellowing and not the clear but it doesnt really matter which one is yellowing, to me that means that there is not much high solids or UV protection in the clear itself. This clear may be good for something but I wouldnt recommend it or use it again. You do get what you pay for. I would recommend the Kirker EC300 instead.

1st time I have ever sprayed a entire vehicle - followed the directions and my 49 Chevy truck has an amazing shine - people can't believe how it looks considering my first paint job (in my garage) - if I can do it you can!

I used this stuff. Had very little flow out even with slow activator. Ended up color sanding and buffing the whole car. Spend a little more and save some time. Almost turned me off on Kirker clear coats. Try the ec300. JON
