Step 1

1. Sanding

To remove nibs, runs, or sags
Sand with DA.

• 3M™ Hookit™ II Finishing Film Disks
Grade P1200, PN 1762

Scratch refinement and texture matching
Sand with DA and interface pad.

• 3M™ Hookit™ II Soft Interface Pad,
PN 1771

Optional step: for reduced compounding
use 3M™ Trizact™ Hookit™ Foam Discs
Grade P3000, PN 4424

Step 2

2. Compounding

For fresh (soft) clear coats
Buff to remove sand scratches completely.

• 3M™ Superbuff™ III Buffing Pad,
PN 4327

• 3M™ Perfect-It™ III Rubbing
Compound, PN 4348

For cured (hard) clear coats
Buff to remove sand scratches completely.

• 3M™ Superbuff™ III Buffing Pad,
PN 4327

• 3M™ Perfect-It™ III Extra Cut
Rubbing Compound, PN 4350

Step 3

3. Machine Glazing

To remove swirl marks
Apply medium pressure.

To polish
Apply light pressure. Suggested buffer
speed: 1800 RPMs.

Step 4

3. Paint Protection

Apply finishing glaze
Make one pass with DA. Do one panel at a
time.

• 3M™ Perfect-It™ Hookit™ II Foam,
DA Glazing Pad, PN 4408

• 3M™ Perfect-It™ III Finishing Glaze,
PN 4352

Wipe clean immediately.

Detailing Cloths, PN 4358

For safety always wear goggles and face shield when grinding or sanding.
