Great for Repairing Hail Damage
Correct minor surface imperfections like small dents, cracks, pinholes, and gouges in metal or filler with the 3M Bondo Professional Finishing Glaze. It works well for repairing hail damage. Sand the surface properly to rid it of grease, oil, dirt, wax, and rust. An adhesive remover can help in eliminating tough build-up, including wax. Before using the finishing glaze, it is best to mask the area around it. This gives you better control over your sanding area so that the surrounding areas stay clean. It is ideal to strip two inches past the dent when you are sanding the dent for repair.
Mix cream hardener with the finishing glaze. While the proper mixing ratio is 50:1 by weight, you can use 1/4" strip cream hardener with 3" diameter of glaze. Mix the hardener and glaze properly on a non-absorbent surface until it gets a uniform color. Using a spreader, apply a thin layer of material onto the area you intend to repair. Apply a layer of glaze not thicker than 1/8" and wait for half an hour before sanding the repair. Start by sanding using an 180-grit sandpaper and finish sanding to the smoothness you want with finer grit sandpaper (320 or 400 grit). Your repair is ready for priming and painting.
